FedUp Concordia is a student-led campaign at Concordia University in Montréal, dedicated to overhauling the university’s food system by replacing the current provider, Aramark, with a community-owned, student-led alternative.

What Is FedUp Concordia?

Launched in Fall 2024, FedUp Concordia emerged from widespread dissatisfaction with Aramark, the multinational corporation managing food services on campus. Students have reported issues such as undercooked meals, moldy produce, and unappetizing options, all while being required to pay over $6,000 annually for meal plans .

The Campaign’s Goals

FedUp Concordia aims to:

  • Terminate Aramark’s Contract: Advocate for ending the university’s agreement with Aramark, set to expire in Winter 2026.
  • Establish EquiTable: Develop a nonprofit, student-led food cooperative named EquiTable to take over campus food services.
  • Promote Food Sovereignty: Align campus food policies with the National Student Food Charter, emphasizing sustainability, social justice, and self-governance

Student Support and Impact

In November 2024, 83% of undergraduate students voted in favor of FedUp’s referendum, mandating the Concordia Student Union (CSU) to support the campaign’s objectives . This strong backing empowers the CSU to advocate for a student-centered food system.

How to Get Involved

Students interested in participating can:

  • Sign Petitions: Show support for better food services on campus.
  • Share Experiences: Provide anonymous testimonials about dining experiences.
  • Join the Campaign: Engage directly with FedUp Concordia through their Instagram or Linktree.
